Latest data from company Distimo shows, that Android Market currently offers 400,000 applications. This is still slightly less, than Apple's App Store, which offers 500,000 applications.
Number of applications on Google's Android Market is growing with great haste, in recent months. It came to 200,000 applications in 31 months and to 300,000 and 400,000 in only 35 or 39 months. For comparison let's look at how fast the App Store came to 400,000 applications. For the first 200,000 applications it lasted 22 months, 30 months for 300,000 and 37 months for 400,000.
The fact is that the growth in the number of applications is much more accelerated on the Android Market, in the recent period, so it would not be surprising if this supremacy soon took over the App Store. But, it is true that Apple earns a lot more than Google, with its online store. The reason for this lies in the fact that Android Market, offers two thirds of applications for free, which is much more than the App Store.
